ChromiaChat

2026 Ongoing build Internal Product / Creator Tooling

ChromiaChat is a Twitch chat system built to help colorblind streamers read and respond to chat clearly, without relying on username colors.

Project Context

Many Twitch chat overlays and tools rely heavily on colored usernames and role colors. For colorblind users, this can reduce readability, cause confusion during fast chat moments, and add cognitive load while streaming.

The Challenge

The system needed to preserve chat clarity and role distinction without depending on color alone, while still working smoothly in a live streaming environment.

The Solution

Built an accessibility-first chat presentation layer that replaces color-only differentiation with clear structural cues, readable label patterns, and contrast-safe styling suitable for live Twitch chat workflows.
